Welcome to Veaiki, Ankerlia and Kåfjord!

Veaiki offers cultural walks in the scenic landscape of Ankerlia. Ankerlia, former administration center and process plant for the copper mines in the mountains of Kåfjord, are now just ruins.

Birtavarre in Lyngenfjord 1900.jpgBirtavarre in the inner part of the Kåfjord, a side arm of the Lyngenfjord, has been a harbour for the shipping of copper ore. Further into the valley the copper smelting prospered before and during The Great War.

The ruins are the easiest available remaining marks of a unique industrial history in the region of Nord-Troms, and an excelent starting point for exploration of the mining sites in the area.

The area of Ankerlia is surrounded by amazing nature.
